Biography
Since 1991, Jean-Yves Ossonce has lead an international career. His discography includes Magnard’s Symphonies, Massenet’s Suites pour orchestre, Hahn’s and Massenet’s Concertos pour piano, and Ropartz’ Le Pays (Deutschen Schallplaten Preis).
The former director of the Tours Opera and the Orchestre Symphonique Région Centre-Val de Loire, he has been especially involved in regional musical life. With this orchestra, he has recorded Déodat de Séverac’s Le Cœur du moulin and Ropartz’ Symphony no. 3, which have both received multiple awards.
He has performed in many opera houses: the Welsh National Opera, Opera North, the Edinburgh Festival, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Hamburg Staatsoper, the San Francisco Opera, the Minnesota Opera, the Montreal Opera, the Warsaw Philharmonic, Trieste, Toulouse, the Lausanne Opera, the Prague Festival, the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, the Théâtre du Châtelet…
He combines the great repertoire with rarer works. In the coming months, his work will bring him to Marseille and Lausanne. He has been presented with two Claude Rostant awards from the Syndicat professionnel de la critique: once for Ropartz’ Le Pays (2008) and again for Magnard’s Bérénice (2014).
He is a Knight in the Legion of Honour.

More recently, he has performed Le Dernier jour d'un Condamné at the Marseille Opera House, Carmen in Shanghai,Massenet's Herodiade at the Saint-Etienne Opera House.
